Position: Development Assistant – Individual Giving
Summary:
This position reports directly to the Director of Individual Giving and works closely with the development team; scheduling and organizing meetings, telephone marathons, generating reports on Raiser’s Edge and assists with special events; and other duties described below. The Assistant will have contact with the Board of Directors, donors, volunteers and other constituencies.
Job Functions:
In partnership with the Director of Development and Director of Individual Giving:
Gift Processing and Acknowledgements
Prepare and enter daily gift batches in Raiser’s Edge; process web and credit card donations; fulfill acknowledgement letters to donors for various campaigns within two-weeks of donation.
Donor Outreach and Communications
A. Manage Phone Outreach Operation:
1. Make and manage phone calls to donor base up to $249. Provide support for Director of Development and Director of Individual Giving to make calls to high dollar donors.
2. Staff telephone shifts (currently Tuesdays 5:45 pm - 8 pm, Thursdays 2 – 4 pm).
3. Weekly recruitment and ongoing training of volunteers.
4. Write call scripts.
5. Fulfill weekly follow-up mailings.
6. Track campaigns on weekly basis.
a. Create call lists for different campaigns.
b. Report on operation statistics.
c. Data entry in Raiser’s Edge.
8. Stock and maintain phone outreach space.
B. Fulfill all external requests for information and tours within 1 - 2 days of request.
C. E-mail announcements of events/news, as needed.
D. Serve as primary external donor relation contact via phone and email.
Media and Communications Support
Maintain all press, photo, release files and databases, including media contacts; edit and update web site content.
Other Office/Departmental Support
A. Recruit member and volunteer help and delegate work for all tasks above and for other office projects, where needed and appropriate.
B. Represent Development Department at all community meetings; provide feedback to the Department.
C. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
One to two years in non-profit Development Office; Raiser’s Edge gift processing and reporting experience required. Flexible to thrive in a high-energy office with competing demands; attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
